HVAC Mechanical/Constructability Engineer

Allied Mechanical Services is seeking qualified candidates, with 0-4 years of experience in the HVAC industry, for the Mechanical/Constructability Engineer position.

The Mechanical/Constructability Engineer position is responsible for the engineering/constructability of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial buildings.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop mechanical drawings for construction of HVAC systems in 2D or 3D AutoCad
  • Perform load calculations to determine system size
  • Ensure mechanical codes and specifications are implemented
  • Initiate and execute frequent exchanges with others to resolve areas of conflict and promote a supportive team approach
  • Solicit bids from vendors and evaluate proposals on major HVAC equipment
  • Perform technical evaluations and reviews of documents
  • Perform field visits to document and verify existing equipment and systems

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university preferred
  • 0-4 years’ experience in HVAC engineering, recent graduates may apply
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and able to bring projects to completion with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and experience/proficiency in technology use and application

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with building and HVAC systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Revit and Navisworks software a plus
  • Can work out of our Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo office
