The History of Allied Mechanical Services
 

1962
Associated Mechanical Services, Inc. is established by Andy Huizinga.


1985
AMS undergoes a change in ownership which resulted in Allied Mechanical Services. Operations continued in facilities located in Kalamazoo, MI and Jackson, MI providing piping, sheet metal, and HVAC services to a commercial, industrial, and institutional client base.


1989
AMS acquires Engineering Plus, Inc., adding mechanical and electrical engineering services.

 
 


1992
Addition of 12,000 square foot pipe fabrication shop. 


1995
Branch office opened in Jenison, MI to serve the Grand Rapids and Holland areas with full mechanical services. 


1999
ControlNET, L.L.C. is formed in response to changing temperature controls technology and growing client demand for an independent digital controls contractor. 

 
 


2001
Jenison office relocated to a larger facility in Hudsonville to respond to increased business opportunities in the Grand Rapids/Holland market. 

2003
ControlNET establishes branch office in Hudsonville, MI


2005
AMS corporate office and main fabrication shops relocate to a renovated 140,000 square foot facility in Kalamazoo, MI. Engineering Plus and ControlNET join AMS in the new facility, sharing overhead while enhancing collaboration opportunities to enhance customer service. 


2007
Midwest Energy Group, L.L.C. is formed to provide building owners with effective solutions for energy reduction. 

 
 

 

2012
ControlNET began leasing out a building in Warren, MI to use as a new branch for the company.


2015
AMS sold the majority of Midwest Energy Group’s share to the company. This allowed them to operate independently while AMS still held a small portion of their share.


2015
ControlNET purchased an existing building in Swartz Creek in which they will renovate, relocate out of the leased office space in Warren, MI and use as a branch location.  

 

2016 

AMS purchased an existing building in Grand Rapids which they are in the process of renovating.
