At Allied Mechanical Services, Inc., it is our goal to enter into, develop, and nurture long term partnering relationships with our customers. We are in the business of providing a service and a product; a service dedicated to the customer and a finished product of the highest quality for a fair price. Our goal is not only to meet the customer's expectations, but to exceed them.
As a company, we have grown both in size and reputation. Our list of customers is a who's who of established businesses and institutions in western Michigan and includes Pfizer, Ross Laboratories, Western Michigan University, Albion College and Andrews University. In each of these cases, and in many more, we have become a respected partner, earning repeat projects and business. We have become the mechanical contractor of choice for projects and have also entered into maintenance contracts with many of our major clients.
Our team of experts is one of the most experienced and well qualified in all of west Michigan. With an in-house engineering department, our project managers are able to work closely with the designers and engineers in the conceptual phase of the project. AMS employees are encouraged to be innovative and creative, teaming with the architects, owners and general contractors to solve any problems they might encounter. As a result, we have developed a proven system of budget and construction cost estimating that brings our projects to conclusion with extreme accuracy and often gives the owner a below budget final cost. |

HISTORY
In 1985, a group of investors purchased certain assets of Associated Mechanical Services of Kalamazoo and hired its employees to form Allied Mechanical Service, Inc. (AMS). Since that time, AMS has grown to become one of southwest Michigan’s largest full service mechanical contracting firms. |
| |
Over the years, AMS has provided uncommon service to its many customers, specializing in large products and process piping in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as completing a significant amount of work at commercial, educational and industrial sites throughout western Michigan and northern Indiana.
To more closely partner with the architect and the owner to produce the highest quality finished product, AMS acquired Engineering Plus, Inc., an M/E design firm in 1989. Matt Moulds, P.E., leads a staff of engineers and designers, providing full service mechanical and electrical engineering and design work to our customers, while teaming with our project managers on a number of mechanical jobs. |

As an increasing amount of piping fabrication work was performed, AMS added a 12,000 square foot pipe fabrication facility in 1992 to complement an existing 20,000 square foot sheet metal fabrication shop. In 1997, AMS added a fully computerized welding machine, one of only thirteen in the entire United States, allowing us to provide the most efficient state-of-the-art welding to our customers.
In 1995, to better serve our client base in the Grand Rapids and Holland areas, a branch office was added in Jenison and, in 2001, expanded to its current Hudsonville location. Sid Holwerda, P.E., serves as Branch Manager. This office joined the existing sheet metal branch office in Jackson, Michigan, with Branch Manager Bob Beer.
In 2000, ControlNET, L.L.C., a Honeywell authorized controls contractor located in Kalamazoo, became a part of the AMS team. General Manager Chris Bonzheim leads a staff of applications engineers and technicians in the design, engineering and commissioning of building control systems.
Allied Mechanical Services, Inc. has sought and received certification from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) as an Accredited Quality Contractor since 1994. |
