Western Michigan University's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences broke ground in October of 2001 and was completed in time for the fall semester of 2003. This two-story plus a mechanical penthouse structure consisted of 350,000-square feet of classroom, laboratory and office space in two wings, connected by a rounded two story glass atrium.

The construction schedule was quite demanding. Although the contract scope was increased by almost 25%, the completion date remained fixed. Allied Mechanical Services through its subsidiary company Engineering Plus, was pivotal in the production of electrical, fire protection, plumbing and HVAC drawings to facilitate the coordination of these disciplines.

AMS employees were instrumental in the coordination of the move from the existing campus to the new campus, removing and reinstalling approximately 1100 pieces of equipment and machinery into the new facility. AMS is proud to have been involved in this project with numerous other ABC contractors, showcasing the skill and integrity of the Merit Shop work force.
