UNIQUE FEATURES:
 
The expansion of the existing underground Franklin Street Pumping Station included installation of five new large capacity pumps, associated process piping, process valves, and building mechanical systems. Also included in the scope of work were modifications at the East Paris Service Center valve vault.

The new large capacity pumps are rated for the following capacities: Pump #5 - 8 million gallons per day (mgd), Pump #6 - 12 mgd, Pumps #7, #8 and #9 - 11.5 mgd. The large process piping and valves ranged in size from 20 to 60" in diameter. Due to the size of the pipe and pumps, they had to be lowered into the area before the above ground portion of the building could be completed. The existing water supply system had to remain in service while the expansion took place.
